How this is ranked

Ranked by the median annual wage in the US Bureau of Labor Statistics' May 2025 wage estimates, half of workers earn more and half less. Only occupations with a published wage are ranked, which is 885 of the 923 in the library.

A high median says nothing about how hard the job is to get. The top of this list is dominated by medicine, which takes a decade or more of training, so read the preparation level on each card.
